Lunch at Seasons Restaurant in Carlsbad

Getting here was easy

While meeting for lunch at a premium location such as the Four Seasons Residence Club Aviara may not be a top-of-mind option, we visited and found the location to be more accessible and enjoyable than our expectations.

It was much easier to get to than we expected. No gate guards, and unlike the main Aviara entrance, no valet required at the Four Seasons. Just drive on by the more congested Hyatt and down the hill to The Seasons restaurant entrance – where we were able to self park with spots available very close to the door.

Casual but upscale lunch spot

The decor and furnishings were upscale as you would expect for a Four Seasons, and we were able to get right in during a weekday at 1pm. The restaurant itself has several different seating options from booths, tables and outside, pool side dining. Service was prompt and professional and we really enjoyed our overall meal here.

The chill environment was complemented with a compact menu of delicious gourmet offerings

While many restaurants have moved away from large extensive menus towards smaller ones where quality, flair and attention can elevate the overall experience, Chef Jerade Hill takes Seasons restaurant one step further with a farm-to-table focus and seasonal changes throughout the year to optimize freshness for their “Modern American Cuisine”.

The lunch menu features a good mix of choices for any preference, including some unique appetizers, flatbreads and salads to get things started. It was a tough choice between the creme fraiche deviled eggs, roasted winter squash soup or the caramelized agave/rosemary house-made ricotta with lemon zest and sour dough. We went with the Ricotta Cheese ($15) and it was over-the-top delicious.

Every dish was a cut above the ordinary

For lunch we went with the Mahi Burger ($26) which featured a lemon caper tartar sauce, pickled cucumber, fresh dill and arugula with fresh made French fries. The brioche bun was fresh and soft, and the mahi was cooked and seasoned perfectly.

And we also ordered the Short Rib Grilled Cheese Sandwich ($24) with caramelized onions, roasted tomato, arugula and dijonnaise coated sourdough bread and fries. The short rib was decadently rich and the Swiss cheese was slightly melted on toasted but pliant sourdough slices. Extremely tasty.

Impressed and we will be back

Eating at any Four Season’s restaurant will always be a bit more expensive than other lunch destinations, but when you can literally drive in, park and sit down in a unique environment like this (perhaps to a have an intimate lunch with a special friend), then having an unpretentious, delicious option nearby may be a surprise to many residents and visitors.
