Why BestCarlsbad.com?
It all started with a discussion among friends after a disappointing dinner at a nearby restaurant in the summer of 2022. The restaurant was highly rated on a national review site with lots of five-star reviews. But clearly, the reviewers had a different perspective than we did. That started a conversation among friends.
As locals, could we create a recommendation website that would help visitors have a better experience when they visited our beloved city of Carlsbad?
We took on the challenge we discussed in 2022 – creating a website with recommendations based on objective and subjective assessments based on visits by BestCarlsbad team members and friends. Yes, we visit hundreds of businesses and locations each year – but hey, we were already doing that anyways. On this wonderful journey, we’ve found interesting people, gorgeous places and fun things to do that we would have never found otherwise. And we share them with visitors to our website so they have a better experience when they visit Carlsbad, California.
Our mantra today remains true to the genesis of BestCarlsbad.com.

No. While Best Carlsbad was founded to share the love of our city with visitors, it’s also meant to be a convenient resource for local residents.
We send out a regular email newsletter that highlights new visits, reviews, and events including new Lists that are added to the website. We spend the time to find out what’s going on in Carlsbad and then let you know.
Many lodging choices are in or near the village – but there are other areas like near Legoland and south of town along the coast. Regions allow visitors an easier way to plan their activities.
